Reuth GmbH: Committed to climate neutrality and sustainability

At Reuth, we have been working tirelessly on our processes and procedures for many years in order to be a reliable and efficient partner for our customers. In doing so, we always keep an eye on the economic requirements of the international competitive environment.

 

At the same time, we take the ecological challenges of our time seriously: “One does not exclude the other” – for us, economy and ecology go hand in hand.

 

We believe that the change towards more sustainability starts with each individual. As a company, we want to play a pioneering role and actively contribute to climate protection through both small and large-scale measures.

 

With our intelligent solutions, we have repeatedly managed to cut costs and reduce CO2 emissions at the same time. In this way, we improve our competitiveness and at the same time leave a climate-neutral footprint for future generations. At Reuth, we call this sustainable action.

Our strategy for climate neutrality

Climate neutrality is an ongoing challenge that constantly inspires us to initiate change. With the support of “Geht doch” Helmut Frorath (www.frorath.com) from Neuss, we have precisely determined and analyzed our own CO2 footprint. We have examined the following aspects in detail in order to transform ourselves step by step into a climate-neutral company:

  • Electricity consumption of our production facilities
  • Energy consumption of all other consumers
  • Gas and water consumption
  • Waste quantities
  • Packaging material
  • Kilometers traveled on all business trips by train and car
  • Employees’ routes to work
  • Number of letters and parcels sent
  • Office supplies
  • Paper consumption

Measures implemented for climate protection

Our aim is to keep our CO2 footprint as small as possible. The carbon footprint quantifies the amount of CO2 emissions that a company produces each year.

 

In order to make our contribution to climate protection and achieve climate neutrality, we have launched a number of projects and initiatives. These measures include both major steps and smaller adjustments:

Specifically:

– Purchase of green electricity from renewable sources
– Complete switch to LED lighting
– Overhaul of the compressed air network and switch to frequency-controlled compressors
– Purchase of production facilities with reduced electricity requirements
– Use of heat recovery in our machines and facilities
– Jobrad-use by 40% of our employees
– Reuse of packaging materials
– Switch to fully recyclable packaging
– Reduction in paper consumption by 55% in the last 4 years
– Filtering of machine emissions (oil mist)
– Minimization of business travel through increased online presence

 

Despite all our efforts, Reuth GmbH still generates CO2 emissions. To offset this, we purchase CO2 certificates from the “Baum Invest AG” forestry project (gold standard climate protection project). That is why we are proud to have been climate-neutral since this year.

 

We firmly believe that we can make a difference together through sustainable development and transformation. We are therefore particularly pleased that we were certified as a climate-neutral company on March 10, 2021.
