Sinker EDM, also known as spark erosion, is a specialized machining process that we at Reuth have mastered. Through successive electrical discharges between two poles—the workpiece and the electrode—the material is precisely removed. This allows us to manufacture hardened mold components with extreme precision, which are used in bending, stamping, and injection molding mold.
One of the key advantages of sinker EDM is its ability to create sharp 90-degree edges in blind holes or cutouts. Our self-manufactured electrodes, made from graphite or copper, provide additional control and precision throughout the process. Additionally, this technique enables the machining of all electrically conductive materials, expanding the range of possible applications.
